Boots That Stay Warm and Look GreatGone is the warmth of the holiday season, which means that (for those of use living in colder climates) the wind is starting to pick up, and the temperate is really beginning to drop. Let’s face it ladies, this is no time to be teetering around in flimsy heels, it’s time to bring out the winter ammunition in full force.
Thankfully, dressing your feet for the sever cold does not have to mean sacrificing style. Of course, heels just aren’t an option for hopping through deep snow banks, but you will find solace in some of the more stylish winter boots of the season. To start, Burberry has constructed a nylon lace-up boot that looks great, has superb traction, and will keep you warm ($285); DKNY has also create a lace up boot that is both rugged and girly, but most importantly this boot will keep you warm for only $275; and finally, Banana Republic has released a rubber rain boot (good for those slushy days) for $98. In order to look cure while walking around in this winter’s wonderland, you will have to be warm and comfortable in the process. Leave the stilettos for the office, and snatch a pair of these boots that will keep your toes walking happily along all winter long. I know, winter just seems unbearable this time of year, but the sun is starting to peek around the corners, and soon you will be wearing those great peep toes – but for now, just stay warm (and fashionable).

Choosing Bridal ShoesAlthough the bridal dress steals the show at any wedding, a good pair of bridal shoes is still of the utmost importance. You want wedding shoes that are not only stylish, but comfortable to wear. You're going to spend the day standing up and posing for pictures, so you don't want to wear shoes that give you blisters.
When you shop for bridal shoes, try to do it towards the end of the day when your feet are a little swollen from walking around. If you plan to wear hose on your wedding day, be sure that you're wearing hose when you're shoe shopping. Remember, a higher price tag does not automatically translate to better shoes. You certainly shouldn't cheap out, but it's not essential for shoes to cost $300 or more. Instead of focusing on the price, concentrate on finding shoes that simply look and feel good. If you're going to wear a shiny satin dress, you should wear satin shoes to go with it. If your dress is more matte, your shoes should likewise be matte. However, don't be too concerned about matching exact shades of white. Colors like ivory, cream, and white are very forgiving. What matters most is that the shoes coordinate with the dress. If you're wearing a traditional wedding dress but would like to make a bold statement, you could do it with your shoes. If you're a country girl (or just love rodeos), you could wear white cowgirl boots under your dress. Or you could wear blue shoes as your "something blue." The best part is that you can easily wear these shoes again. The most important thing is choosing bridal shoes that are comfortable, stylish, and fit your personality.

New '08 TrendsThe stockings have been hung; the trees are all starting to come down; and the champagne has been toasted – a new year is upon us, and new fashion trends are already being spotted across the globe. If you want to be on top of the fashion hot list this coming season, here are some sure fire trends to keep your eye on.
For the technologically advance fashionista, 2008 is all about color. While 2007 was obsessed with sleek and sexy designs, this coming year you will want to glam it up with a bright splash. Gone are the greys, blacks, and golds, so make room for the blues, reds, and purples. Your phone will look spectacular encased in a bright pink pocket, and all those things that you love so dearly will now be available in a rainbow of colors. For your legs, you will find the colored denim is all the rage. Toss those old black jeans, and opt for some brighter colored jeans instead. You will find reds, purples, greens, and even a few bright blues on shelves very soon, and these great jeans will be widely available as well. Other accessories include small bags (leave the kitchen sink at home); skinny belts (gone are those studded wide wonders); and feather hair pieces. In short, 2008 is mixing it up with a bit of fashion inspiration taken from the 1980s, and a few pieces selected from the 1920s as well. This year, look forward to some exciting new fashion trends, and make sure to include at least one new piece in your wardrobe for 2008.

It's 2008, When Old Fashion Is New AgainLike history, fashion seems to be repeating itself. This time creativity is making old fashions even more beautiful and glamorous. Present trends in dresses are based on bold, bright gem colors as well as the tried and true black and white. At the same time, as new fashions evoke memories of the best from the past, they do so with a twist.
Color seems to be the center piece upon which all fashions and accessories are focused. Purple in any shade is THE color to wear. Jeweled tones of any gem you can think of are presently in vogue and are being used in clothing, jewelry and footwear. Dress designs range from the slim pencil skirt, to the medieval drape and to the "global nomad" which is a clashing of styles and patterns that won't go away according to Pauline Weston Thomas at www.fashion-era.com. Ms. Thomas has compiled a descriptive list of the top twenty current fashion trends. Lengths of dresses are varied from the 1940's dresses with short fishtail trains to floor length and perky knee lengths. The waists are tight and many necklines plunge. Some have obi-like waist lines. You will see lots of sequins and encrustations. Shimmer is a popular word used to describe many fashion items this season. Skirts can be full or fitted and seem to match well with jackets based on those from the 50s and 60s. Suits with matching skirts are popular. Jackets may be fitted or boxy, hip-length or cropped. Some have a distinct military flair and color. Watch for leather jackets reminiscent of biker girls. Some styles of these jackets are made to drape softly. The pants tend to have a higher waist and can be full length or cropped. Bulky knits in a waist or hip length created in a lacy, cable or rib motif are being made in patterns not seen in about 20 years. They are being made with new materials that are some times an inch in diameter. Many current yarns are feathery or funky and fun. According to Ms. Thomas, gray is the color of choice for bulky knits this year and can be worn with dresses, skirts or pants. The quilted, puffy and padded outerwear in animal prints or shimmery fabrics become more opulent when combined with the proper embellishments. With the newest styles including such a wide variety of styles, colors, and materials, there isn't any reason why a big girl cannot play dress-up, an old-fashioned thing to do, and do it with style.

Be Fashionable With Your Hair Style and Make-upChinese suppliers of make-up are offering products containing multi-function systems. Cosmetics contain anti-aging and UV protective properties. Once the face is made-up, it must be framed by the appropriate hair cut.
Hair styles for the new year are going short. It is very important that you and your stylist consider the shape of your face when choosing your new cut. Short hair can compliment any facial shape if you choose wisely. If your face is oval, you will look fabulous with a cut that is feminine but boyish at the same time. For a round face, you don't want to emphasize cheeks that are already full. Haircuts above the cheek with plenty of volume will suit you best. For those ladies with a pear shaped face, you will want to avoid long hair that emphasizes the disproportion of your facial structure. The short cuts for this type should add volume on the upper part adding distance between the forehead and the jaws. The short cut is easier to take care of and flattering to all facial types. Brides should carefully consider how their hair do will look with the dress they have chosen. Some hair styles are best kept for indoor ceremonies. While others are best avoided if the wedding takes place outside. Nevertheless, as long as you choose a flattering hair style, you will be glowing and radiant. Much research and development by Chinese companies have been completed in the area of healthier cosmetics. Suppliers from China have been offering organic and mineral based cosmetics for awhile now. Newer organically and mineral based indredients are being added as scientists have become aware of the damage the environment has on our skin. Makers are making cosmetics that contain aloe vera, various teas, and allantoin which promotes regeneration of skin cells. Various sea products such as fish collagen and shark cartilage are being added in order to increase skin elasticity and skin renewal. Pharmaceutical researchers are contributing to the new skin products by adding specific vitamins to fight free radicals. Reduction of wrinkles and repairing cell damage requires the use of amino acids, ceramides, nexapeptide 3 and hyaluronic acid. Did you know that vitamin A and caviar essences are used for improving the all over texture of the skin and refining pores? The newest products boast UV protection, whitening and exfoliating properties. With your short hair style to complement your facial structure plus the organic and pharmaceutically enhanced skin care products, you are well on your way to being counted within the fashionable. Easy care hair styles and make-up kits reduced in size will enable you to freshen up quickly. You'll be able to transition from work to night on the town ready in now time at all.

Tune in on JewelsYou see them everywhere and you know their different names. Jewels are all around us. They have graced us and our accessories for quite some time, even 100,000 years ago. Although used for reasons such as status symbols, currency, and for various functions, we mostly like jewels for their beauty and sparkle. So let's take a look at four of the most valued jewels that you can get.
The diamond is believed to be the most coveted gemstone of all. The popular choices for usage are for engagement and wedding rings, as well as gifts for anniversaries and April birthdays. Or, as coined by the glamorous Marilyn Monroe when she sang, "Diamonds are a girl's best friend", they are a great gift for any girl, any occasion. There are several ways to treat the gem sapphire, making it purple or yellow, but the most common color is deep blue. Not only is it a stunning shade for everyone, but is the birthstone of September and the traditional gem to give for your forty-fifth wedding anniversary. Meaning "green", the emerald is a beautiful addition to any collection. Being a slightly brittle stone, however, has not affected the popularity of them. Although a real one is somewhat rare, this green gem is traditionally given at fifty-fifth wedding anniversaries and is May's birthstone. Second only to the diamond, the ruby is an extremely durable jewel. It has been used to decorate swords and armor as well as blessing a building's foundation with good fortune. You also might get one at your fortieth anniversary or if your birthday is in July. So next time you go shopping for some jewels, look for good colors and settings and you might be compared to a precious stone yourself!

Accessories Have The Final SayClothing doesn't have the market cornered on new ideas on using materials or setting trends. Isn't it true that clothing cannot have the leading role without the support provided by accessories in the form of belts, watches, jewelry, and shoes? Let's see what is literally in store for us!
Jewelry made from decoupaged paper, terra-cotta, wooden beads strung on ribbon, and timeless gold and silver will be available for customers on both ends of the spending spectrum. Bold colored earrings, necklaces and bracelets created from cubic zirconiums, crystals, and glass along with gems in every color of the rainbow have been created. The pearl seems to be the up and comer among the gem crowd. The drop earrings and waterfall necklaces are still in vogue. Necklaces will tend to be sold in sets with coordinated earrings, or bracelets and rings. Textures embossed or engraved into jewelry and belts will be very chic. Watches will be capable and functional. Palladium and chrome finishes will be passe as gold, silver, and rhodium lead the runway due to being thicker and more resistant to wear. Handbags will tend to be bulky and functional. Fun will be an operative word in bag design as materials such as straw and metallics are combined with wooden beads, studs, and embroidered embellishments. The ho-hum leathers will share the stage with ostrich, stingray and snakeskin as wallets. Other synthetic leathers will boast embossed or quilted designs. Bright yellow, electric blue, and the ever popular ruby red wallets will be popular with or without studs and beads. Whether synthetic or real, leather will also take on jeweled tones. Ubiquitous black, blue and gray will remain as will animal prints. Belts will be as versatile as ever. Thick or thin, they will have clever metal clasps and some will be wraparounds. Last, and certainly not least, are shoes and boots. Experts say that adding a pair of ankle boots is the perfect way to update an outfit. Expect your footwear to be made from synthetic to animal products. Embellishment seems to be the cue for shoes to shine. More companies are focusing on comfort and are offering softer uppers and bottoms on shoewear. You can expect to see checks, stripes, animal prints, and geometric shapes along with the patterned leather. It appears that some products will feature PVC and other materials that have been tested to make sure they contain no toxic agents. Our choices for accessories will be even larger and certainly more varied in materials and colors. There will certainly be something to appeal to wearers of all ages and tastes.

What to Wear, A Color GuideMost people fall into four basic categories as far as their skin and hair color vis-a-vis what colors compliment them. This is very important in choosing accessories. When wearing basic black, for example, your accessories can make or break the color harmony of your outfit. You don't have to have a lot of accessories; a little goes a long way.
Speaking about these four color categories, for convenience we can make analogies to the four seasons. Warm, muted colors are characteristic of Spring; cool, muted colors best describe Summer; colors that are warm and clear are closer to Autumn; finally, cool and clear colors compliment Winter. How can you tell what "season" your coloring is closest to? Look at your skin color tones. Everyone has undertones to their natural skin color. Warm skin tones are defined by subtle yellowish undertones; cool skin tones have blueish undertones. Cool skin tones are also fairer skin while the warmer skin tones tend to have darker characteristics. This is just a general guide; you can experiment with a variety of colors. In the world of accessories contrast is good. For example, a splash of rich red color (such as a red silk scarf, or handkerchief in the pocket of a man's suit) looks striking against a dark brown or basic black outfit. A white silk, flowery scarf would look smashing against a brown or beige background, with a black purse and shoes to complete the outfit, with taupe hosiery. These are just suggestions, and I'm sure you can think of wonderful, creative ways to dress up your attire with beautiful, contrasting colors. Don't be afraid to be creative and have fun doing it!

Your Clothing and Style May Be What Is Holding You Back At WorkWhile clothes don't really make the woman, they do help create the appearance of confidence, competence and professionalism. By the way you dress, you may be keeping yourself from being considered for an upper level job. Because of your capabilities, your boss may well see you as a worker bee and be content to keep you in that position. If you are dressing more funky than stylish, then you may well be the one keeping you from promotions that you deserve. It isn't fair but it is the way it is.
Dressing in skimpy tops or skirts with large amounts of flashy jewelry hanging from ears, throat and wrist while wearing gaudy makeup may be imply that you are dressed for a profession wholly different that the one you're in. Unflattering hair styles and colors as well as outdated clothes that do not fit properly are eye-catching. For that very reason, the boss may well prefer that you stay in your back office where you will not be seen by current or prospective clients. Look at your body type and size. Then, look at professionals in positions that you would like to have. What basic colors are they wearing? How are their hands manicured? How is their hair styled? What kinds of shoes and accessories are they wearing? How are professionals your age dressing? Get the picture? You can still express your individual style as long as you don't go overboard, wear clothing that fits properly and is trendy but tasteful. According to experts on dressing for success, jewelry considered evening wear is not appropriate for the office. You can wear an accent piece but the other jewelry should be more simple and complementary. For example, your diamond necklace should not be worn with your diamond chandelier earrings. Neither should you be loaded down with necklaces like Mr. T. You can wear several chain necklaces as long as they are not fighting with each other for attention. A touch of gold or silver can add interest to a suit top in the form of a pin. Suit tops with patterns should be carefully chosen. A solid scarf in a contrasting color tastefully tied around the neck can add a pop of color to a patterned top. Bracelets should be simple and elegant. They can be distracting if they are too loud in color or movement. Dress boots can add drama to an ankle length skirt or slacks. High heeled shoes should be limited to two inches and the pointy-toes shoes may work with slacks and nothing else for work. If you are wearing a monochromatic colored suit, you can use the color of your shoes as the bright accessory of the day. For example, red shoes could be worn with a black or navy suit. Shoes should be black, brown, navy blue, and gray not unlike the colors preferred for suits. You may wish to wear a scarf tucked into the top of a camisole worn under a suit jacket. As for the cleavage, less is best. You do not have to spend a fortune to dress appropriately for your job. Have a few good pieces that you can mix and match. Watch for sales and you can find some great buys in consignment shops. Find pieces that fit you and compliment your shape and personal style. If you follow these suggestions, you may be showing more business sense than you thought.

Choosing a BraEven though your bra is hidden under your clothes, it will make a dramatic difference in how you look. A good bra will make you look fantastic in your clothes. An ill-fitting bra will make you look frumpy and could cause other problems. That's why you should take the time to choose the right bra.
On those days when you're just wearing jeans and T-shirts, a smooth and seamless bra works best. For tailored suits and formal wear, you will want a reinforced bra that offers more support and definition. For certain kinds of evening wear, you will need even more creative breast-support solutions. You should have at least one strapless bra for when you wear tube tops or sleeveless dresses. A specialty bra for evening wear is an excellent choice for a sexy backless dress. If you have small breasts, a balcony bra can push them up and give them more definition. A padded bra might also help if you need more cleavage to "hold up" a low-cut dress. For large breasts, full coverage is best. Wide, comfortable bra straps that will not dig into your shoulders is essential. You may also benefit from underwiring for better support. Choose smooth, simple bras that will make your breasts appear smaller. Whether your bust is large or small, your bras should always feel comfortable. You don't want to feel the straps digging into your shoulders. The bra should move comfortably with your body, not constantly shift out of place. The center of the bra should be aligned with your sternum. Take the weather and climate into account. Satin bras may look sexy, but if you're going to wear one outside on a hot summer afternoon, you'll be drenched in sweat. Cotton and other natural fibers that breathe are best for warm climates.

The MillinerAnyone who pays attention to the credits at the end of a fashion show is fairly familiar with the names of those who work along side the designer but behind the scenes. Often times you will see the names of up-and-coming designers, but for the most part, these people are happy to work behind the scenes and have done so for years. The most recent Spring/Summer shows for '08 happened to include one new name that was shown during the credits for quite a few designers; Albertus Quartus Swanepoel.
Albertus has formally taken the title of Milliner; this is even the occupation he lists on his tax forms. A Milliner is one who designs women's hats and hat trimmings specifically and also other accessories that include embellishments such as the extra buttons on a man's coat sleeve. In modern terms, they create hats and delicious embellishments for them and other accessories. Swanpoel is a very modest designer who doesn't feel it would be right to say that he actually designs the hats that are being used in the designer’s collection. He states simply; "It's more finding the right shape, as a draper would do for a designer. Materializing their ideas." When collaborating with Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, he had one of his most successful collaborations. He collaborated with the designers to create the turbans in their 2005 Spring show, which was surf-inspired. Swanpoel gives us some advice on how to wear hats, since they are one of the hottest accessories for 2008. Albertus says that the best way to wear a hat "is with wit," going on to add that he tends to follow a rule of opposites when choosing head gear. For example, women with a long face should wear a wide brim; a round face will do best with a square hat.

Purse AccessoriesDo you ever have trouble finding your keys in your purse? Then the Finders Key Purse could be just the accessory for you. It's basically a key chain that attaches to the edge of your purse, keeping your keys within easy reach at all times. It attaches with a stylish decorative clip, which is available in a number of different styles from flowers to butterflies and everything in between. The clip's chain hangs inside your purse, so your keys aren't flapping around as you walk. At only $10, it's the best way to make sure your keys don't disappear into the dark, murky regions of your bag.
The Finders Key Purse's manufacturer, Alexx Inc, introduces a new design each year to support women's health. The newest edition is a pink ribbon for breast cancer awareness. Ten percent of all proceeds from the item go to Healing Odyssey, an organization to support women cancer survivors. Another great product from Alexx Inc is the Hot HangUps purse holder. Whether at the office or dining out at a restaurant, always keeping your purse on the floor can get pretty messy, as it collects dirt and grime and then brings the nasty germs back to your house. But the Hot HangUps purse holder is an attractive hook that attaches to the edge of a desk or countertop, allowing you to hang your purse and keep it off the dirty floor. The hooks come in a variety of styles and start at $20.

Beyoncé's DiamondsShe may seem like a far cry from previous Armani models, but Beyoncé Knowles has been chosen to be the new face of Armani’s Diamonds. Diamonds is a new scent by the famed Italian designer, and this perfume has already started to sell like, well, diamonds.
Diamonds, the fragrance, features notes of raspberry, freesia, lily of the valley, cedar wood and amber. Many reviewers have found that Diamonds screams confidence, which is why this scent would be perfect for the corporate world. Diamonds is slightly fruity, but it also has a feminine touch that really lingers once you leave a room. Perhaps that is why Armani choose “Ms. Bootylicious” to represent the new fragrance. Beyoncé is known for being extremely confident while still exuding feminine glory – and that is just what this fragrance projects. Diamonds is available at most department stores around the nation, and it retails for $39.50 (1.7 oz). Incidentally, Armani has also recently enlisted the help of soccer star David Beckham. Other popular scents for the upcoming 2008 season include a new fragrance by Burberry called “The Beat” (on sale in March); and a new perfume by Chloe that has been released exclusively in Paris. Perfumes are often similar to the latest fashion trend, and every girl needs to update her perfume inventory once in awhile. Pick a scent that you love, and ignore the packaging, in order to find something that you can wear every day. Perfume has been loved throughout the centuries, and it continues to be the one thing that women just can’t get enough of.

2008 Bridal AccessoriesGetting married sometime in the new year? If you are a true fashion princess, you will want to know all about the upcoming 2008 bridal accessory fashions. Although technically bridal styles are part of the fashion world in general, the bridal world tends to march to its own beat. However, this year bridal accessories are actually following design trends that will be popping up in catalogues very shortly. The trick this coming year is to let go of all things large and out of control, and stick to unique fashionable pieces instead.
Gone are the days when large Miss American tiaras stole the bridal show (hallelujah!). Instead, the 2008 bride will be adorned in jewels, glittering crystals, feathers, and headbands that reflect a modern, yet timeless, look. Head pieces should be closer to the head in general, and they should also complement your facial features and head shape. In fact, the best advice that you can heed when it comes to choosing the perfect headpiece is to select one that will complement your face. Barrettes should reflect old Hollywood glamour, and jewelry should be simple, yet, creative. To see examples of the latest bridal accessory designs, head to www.princessbridetiaras.com. This site has a lot of great examples that reflect the 2008 look, and the prices are relatively affordable as well. Every girl should look like a proper princess on her wedding day, just make sure that you stay away from older tiaras, and opt for one that is classic, modern, and inventive.

Fashionable, Functional PursesAre you perplexed by all the choices out there? Finding just the right purse for either yourself or a friend (especially if you're a husband and Christmas shopping for your wife) can be a daunting task. It is usually better to invest in quality because a well-made purse made with good materials, such as genuine leather, will last longer and pay for itself over time.
So where do you go if you're on a budget and still want good quality? It's kind of like buying a Cadillac on a Chevrolet budget. If you look around, there are good "Chevrolets" out there! A good place to find a quality purse is J.C. Penney. This store is not known for being a discount store, but is known for its quality products for sale. In the recent past J.C. Penney, and stores like it, were fighting for their very survival with the advent of Walmart, Sam's, etc. They fought back by offering a greater selection and better quality at reasonable prices. They have succeeded. Plus, their shopping environment is usually less crowded and you have adequate access to friendly, knowledgeable clerks in each department. Within Penney's are well-known brands of purses. St. John's Bay, Worthington, and East 5th are some featured band names and all have good selections of purses in different colors and sizes. Purses and shoes are often color-coordinated with clothing. You can get a good idea ahead of time on their current selection by checking their web page: http://www.jcpenney.com/products/CO33171.jsp. In this busy season you can check this web page and if you see something you think you would like to have, call the nearest store and find out whether they have the item(s) in stock. Shopping at J.C. Penney is usually a pleasurable experience; you can have quality items at reasonable prices. Happy shopping!

Ferragamo Makes Shoe Dreams Come TrueHave you ever wondered what it might feel like to walk in the shoes of Marilyn Monroe – literally? Salvatore Ferragamo has just announced that the company plans on making replicas of shoes that were once only created for those of the rich and famous variety. Most of the shoes that will be recreated were originally made many decades ago during Ferragamo’s own lifetime, and many of these shoes were only made once, until now.
Two times per year, Ferragamo intends to release a few famous pairs of shoes ranging from those worn by Marilyn Monroe in “Some Like It Hot” (yes, those red “to die for” pumps) to those famous ballet shoes worn by Audrey Hepburn (a personal client of Ferragamo). For years now, Ferragamo’s coveted shoe designs have been hidden inside of a secret archive, and once the limited number of reproductions is sold out, the design will go back into the vault for another century or so. How can you get your hands on these once in a lifetime gems? Well, Ferragamo intends to release the shoe imitations sometime within the next month, or so, at Ferragamo shoe stores within the United States, but exact release dates have not yet been published. One thing is for sure, if you are a dedicated designer shoe fan, you must snag a pair of Ferragamo originals before it is too late. Never before have the shoes that once made starlets famous graced retail stores throughout the nation, and once these new designs are sold out they may never be seen again.

Iman AccessoriesIf you have been following the news within the fashion world lately, you are sure to know the name “Iman.” Supermodel Iman has just announced that she will be launching an all new accessories line on the Home Shopping Network sometime within the month of January. This new line will feature items from all around the world, and Iman will have her personal hand in every single piece that is designed.
Maintaining the life of a supermodel is not an easy feat, but for Iman, having the opportunity to travel the world has allowed her sense of style to pick up a lot of colors and unique twists. Iman strives to bring those that buy her accessories a bit of a worldly view, and she intends to incorporate fashion and colors from China to India in all of her new items. So, how does a supermodel, wife, and business woman find the time to launch an accessories line? Well, the ever humble Iman told press that “for me, it was not a challenge. It was part and parcel of the juggling act I call my life, just like so many women out there.” She’s right – just like a lot of other women in the world, Iman simply has time to create fabulous accessories because she makes the time to give back to her public. So many fashionistas have been watching Iman throughout the years trying to achieve that posh and effortless look that this amazing woman just seems to radiate. The secret? According to Iman, “it's all about how to pull it all together to make it look effortless.” Keep your eyes on the Home Shopping Network in order to see some of Iman’s latest designs, and be sure to snag a few of them before the word really starts to spread.

Dress Warm, Look CoolI know – it’s cold out there. But that doesn’t mean that you have to look like Stay Puff the marshmallow man in order to keep warm. Please, put away those down filled jackets that look like life preservers, and follow this style guide in order to look cool while staying warm.
Start with a few layers – but not of the bulky knit sweater variety. No matter what the fashion magazines are telling you, knits do not look good on everyone. In fact, those long sweaters tend to look best on super thin super models, and (unless you are a super model) most girls simply end up looking like over inflated tires wearing those heavy sweaters. Instead, opt for thin tank tops with long sleeve tops covering them. Instead of looking for waffle tops, think about other fabrics that will stretch, move, and pull with your body as you slip across the parking lot. If you are forced to dress corporate casual, opt for a sweater dress and pair it with some tights (don’t forget the heels). Of course, you will also want to make sure that your head, ears, neck, and hands are covered, but please do not reach for those ear flap hats (you know, the kind that resemble some sort of hunting cap). Instead, look for a hat that fits your head, flatters your eyes, and keeps you comfortably warm. The key to staying warm and looking great is to find thin fabrics, and work with layers. Remember that you cannot layer thick shirts together without looking like you have just gained ten pounds. Keep clothes close to your body, wear stretchy materials, and try to look your best. I know that those large jackets are tempting, but you can be just as warm in sleek wool. This season, leave the puff to the marshmallows, and allow your inner snow queen to emerge frosty and fabulous.

Fabulous Fashionista GiftsIt’s true, a real fashionista can be very hard to please, but if you have a glamor girl on your shopping list, there is no need to panic. There are some tried and true gifts out there that will have even the most demanding woman eating out of your hand. Skip those mall wrapped bath packages this year, and consult this list instead – the one thing that any fashion savvy girl must have is a gift that will get her ahead.
Shoes: shoes can be very tricky things to purchase. First, make sure that you know her proper shoe size – guessing won’t cut it. Or, better yet, get her a gift card to a favorite shoe store – every girl loves a new pair of shoes. Design Time: if your girl is a label queen, you will want to search for accessories (sunglasses, bags, wallets) with the name Prada, Coach, Armani, or Gucci written on the side. A great place to go to find superb designer deals is BlueFly (www.bluefly.com). Magazines: any fashion conscious girl will love a yearly subscription to a fashion magazine. Choose Elle, Glamour, In Style, Vogue, Vanity Fair, Allure or Lucky, and give her the gift of fashion all year long. Jewelry: this is another difficult item to purchase. Unless you are going to buy her an engagement ring, you must know her personal style. Does she enjoy large pieces? Small pieces? Diamonds? Emeralds? Usually, bigger is better – but don’t go gaudy. Shop around for the perfect piece of jewelry, and purchasing a gift that comes in a little blue box (Tiffanys) is always a great idea. Any of these gifts will gain you an instant smile, hug, and a happy girl throughout the New Year. Of course, you can’t forget to outdo your current gift on a birthday or other event, but if you choose from the above option, you will be safe for now.

All New Burberry JewelryThe winter has just begun, yet you will already know what to expect from the house of Burberry this coming spring when you finish this article. Burberry has taken its up and coming jewelry line to the street of London, and though this designer icon has created jeweled pieces before, this all new line is about to change the face of spring fashion in its entirety.
Many other fashion houses tend to take cue from those in the business that have been creating style for many decades, and who better to mold future spring style other than powerhouse Burberry? From the many soccer fans that don tartan scarves to the ladies that dress from head to toe like elegant princesses, Burberry will never go out of style. The new spring jewelry line up will work perfectly with Burberry tartan skirts and perfectly tucked in shirts – these new pieces are heavy, rugged, and full of metal. You may not expect dark nickel, lacquered black, and brass colored jewelry from Burberry, but that is exactly where these new jewels are headed. You will find wrist cuffs decked out in studs and Celtic crosses reminiscent of medieval knights, and you will also find chain link nickel necklaces dotting the dainty necks of British elite. This new Burberry style is exciting to say the least, but you won’t be able to get your hands on it until sometime this spring. Burberry has announced that these new jewels will range in price from $195 - $1,595, and the line will be showcased in Burberry flagship stores next spring.

Think Sunshine In The Winter TimeNothing chases the winter doldrums away like a little taste of the sun. Chances are your sunglasses have been stuffed away into the top of your hall closet, right next to your sunscreen. Or perhaps they have been crunched down to the bottom of your handbag, buried under the weight of your extra pair of mittens. In either case, there is no time like the present to think about addressing your eyewear. Yes the sunshine may be harder to come by, but even in the winter you still need to protect your eyes from harmful UV rays. Besides, you might find that the sunny days are even brighter when the rays bounce off all of that glistening snow, successfully blinding you as you attempt to find your exit ramp.
As far as sunglasses go in the fashion world, there hasn’t been a significant movement away from the larger frames that became popular a year or so ago. Large plastic frames with just a hint of a retro 1960s feel are still hugely popular. An addition to the sunglasses A-List are the throwback aviator sunglasses that might conjure up images of a more recent decade with their distinctively ‘80s look. Both metal and plastic frames can be found by high-end designer labels, and as a result you can also find both in the lower price ranges as well. You can also have your pick of color in sunglass frames. Perhaps a nice winter white frame? Or red to perfectly accessorize your stunning winter coat? Either way, there’s nothing more fun than getting fresh accessories for each new season. And besides, buying a product that has something to do with sunshine may lift your spirits as the days get shorter.

Pump it UpIf you are wondering whether or not pumps will ever go out of fashion, the answer is, “no.” From the movie stars of the 1920s to the royalty of today, the ever popular pump is still the height of fashion. Though the pump really changes very little when it comes to basic structure, there are a few pumps making the scene in today’s fashion world more than others. If you want to snag this season’s “must have” pump, check out these fabulous designs.
Valentino “Sweetheart:” although color has seemingly run out of fashion this season, Valentino continues to doll up feet in the brightest colors possible. The Sweetheart pump comes in vibrant patent leather green, or bubble gum pink, and featuring a scalloped edge, these pumps will truly make a bold statement ($525). Issa “Passion” Pumps: looking for a pump that really shouts? The Passion pumps from Issa are sparkly, glittery, and extremely colorful. You can only wear these pumps with the quintessential little black dress, but if you want your feet to stand out, Issa’s pumps are a great way to steal the show ($600). Miss Sixty Grey Pumps: these pumps really take the cake for class, elegance, and overall splendor. Miss Sixty has always had a way of creating fashion that goes before its time, and grey is the new black this season. If you are seeking a sophisticated pump, the Miss Sixty grey pumps are a steal at only $165. “Cache” by Michael Antonio: these adorable red pumps are fantastic for the girl that loves to show off her feet by encasing them in timeless fashion. The best part about these Michael Antonio pumps is that they are only $24.99 – a magnificent bargain. Rock and Republic “Karen Quilted Pump:” these pumps are simply to die for, and they would go with anything from a suit to a pair of jeans. Of course, being Rock and Republic, these pumps are also incredibly comfortable, but at $395 they might not be for everyone.

Women's Fashion, Winter 2007The basics:
Brown is in this season. Make sure you have a nice pair of brown trouser pants and a nice pair of black trouser pants. Banana Republic offers fantastic trousers for all sizes. A nice overcoat is essential. They come in several varieties, again choose the coat that best fits your body type. Do not buy a short pea coat if you have a large tummy. Get a belt that has a large buckle, it will add style to several looks. Buy one quality purse. Coach is a good choice. They are very classy and aren't too terribly expensive especially if you can find one on sale or have a Coach outlet near you. Gold or silver is a good choice, not only is it festive but it will match your brown or black trousers. The same thing goes for shoes and boots. Find a nice pair of brown or gold shoes or boots, as well as a black pair. Spend the extra money on real leather and a trusted name brand. Booties are all the rage right now. For the holiday season you will need a little black dress. It can be worn to the office party, Christmas parties with friends, or even dinner with the folks. Think simple. Splurge on a pair of designer jeans; Seven for All Mankind, Citizens, or Joes. They do amazing things. Go to the department store and recruit an associate that will help you find the right pair. Seven DOJO jeans have a nice trouser cut and can be dressed up or down. You will need a well cut blazer. With the right accessories you can take it from day to night. A classy boxy blazer is a staple as it will works with jeans, skirts, and dressy trousers. Buy the pants that fit your body type. If you are short do not wear capris with knee length boots. If you have a larger midsection and bottom make sure you purchase pants that have a wide leg or a slight flare. If you are thin you can pull off several looks including the pencil pant look. Black and white are always in, so make sure you have a nice white top. It can be worn in several different ways with your other essential pieces. When wearing trousers the bottom of the pant should cover the top of your show or boot and end mid heel. Now that the essentials are covered, have a little fun picking out a few colorful pieces that are inexpensive. Look for discounted name brand pieces at stores like Ross, TJ MAXX, or even E-Bay. A flashy gold, red, purple, or pink top adds some flavor. Scarves are inexpensive and can also add a splash of color. Don't buy skinny scarves, crushed velvet anything, or cropped sweaters. Do buy chunky mufflers, knit tops or dresses, and long cardigans. Use your best judgment - if you are laying down on the bed trying to zip your pants, opt for something more reasonable and comfortable.

Tattoo BootsJust because the ground is cold, your feet do not have to be encased in ugly winter boots. Instead, there is a new trend starting to make waves amidst all those frozen states, and these clever boots are really going to catch people’s eye.
The newest trend to hit the winter fashion market is the “tattoo boot.” These boots range in price from hundreds of dollars to a few dollars, and everything about them is simply fun. The boot company “Refuge” has just come up with a boot that resembles the ever popular Ugg, but this boot has a whimsical heart and dagger design crawling up the back of it. You can buy Refuge tattoo boots that state either “Love” or “Hate” at the top of the boot, and when you tuck you pants into those tall winter wonder, nearly everyone will be stopping to take a look at your calves. Other tattoo boots include rain boots by the company “Chooka,” and various other Australian brands attempting to cash in on the Ugg trend. If you are looking for a way to spruce up your wardrobe this winter, don’t settle for heavy, ugly, boots. Instead, choose a boot design that is stylish and fun to wear. What could be better than a winter boot that is warm and colorful? So many people seem to think that winter means donning shoes that are best left in the closet, but thankfully this year companies have finally realized that boots needn’t be lacking design. Make your winter feet happy, choose boots that have a bit of style.

Your Signature StyleDo you have your own signature style? While many of us like to "dress to impress" and stay on top of current fashion trends, having your own unique look will set you apart. You'll make a lasting impression. But depending on what kind of impression you want to make, it will take some thought and creativity to decide on your look.
The most important thing is to think about how you already dress. What do you feel most comfortable in? Do you prefer to dress conservatively? Do you love colorful or flamboyant styles? Pick the style that you are most drawn to and use that as the foundation for your signature style. A signature style could be as complicated as the kind of clothes you wear, or as simple as carrying a pink handbag. Developing your signature style with accessories is perhaps easiest. Maybe you could become known as the lady who always wears a hat, or the girl who always wears unusual pendants. Maybe you prefer to express yourself with color? Maybe you'd like to wear a bit of red every day, whether it's a scarf, a jacket, or a purse. Maybe you always wear bright jewel tones or stick to the rich, earthy colors. Be careful that you don't dress the same exact way all the time, though: Your signature style should be a focal point. Coordinate your look around it, but don't get so locked into it that you can't afford to rotate your wardrobe or accessories. Most importantly, choose a signature style that really feels comfortable and natural. It should feel like you!

New Purse TrendsWhat girl doesn’t love a new bag? There is just something so tempting about those shiny shoulder bags that most of us will stop at nothing to get one. Maybe it’s the fact that those little sacks carry everything from money to makeup, or maybe we just like to show off pretty shapes and designer trends. Whatever it is, this season’s purse trends are starting to shape up, so grab a pencil and get ready to jot down the hottest new bag styles of the season.
Pretty in patent seems to be the latest trend, and these shiny black bags are all that you will need to set off those chunky knit hats and scarves that are so popular this season. Some great patents include the “Patent Utility Tote” (Marc by Marc Jacobs $428); “Large Patent Satchel” ( Michael Kors $1,195); and “Large Patent B Bag” (Fendi $2,070). Other than patent, Prada has just come out with a fabulous new “bowler” bag, that subtly showcases the Prada name on the side ($2000), and a classic Burberry bag is always in style. If you want to be at the top of the fashion list this season, scope out the latest design bag trends. Whether you opt for a top of the line bag, or whether you decide to shop for those coveted knock offs, a new purse is just the thing to cure any case of winter blues. In order to find the best bag for you, try a few on and then decide which bags hang just right, and remember to keep it simple – this season is all about classic designs, tight shapes, and luxurious fabrics.

Best Winter PerfumesEven though you may be entering all of those holiday parties with a red nose and flushed cheeks, you don’t have to smell like you trekked through piles of snow banks to get there. Instead, choose a fragrant holiday scent to compliment your wardrobe, or give one of these delectable scents for a perfect holiday gift.
Vera Wang Princess: notes of floral, fruit, musk, vanilla, frosting, and dark chocolate await you with this fragrance. Every girl that wears Wang’s new princess scent is sure to feel like royalty. Estee Lauder Dazzling Gold: there is just something all grown up about the floral notes included in Estee Lauder’s new scent. From the package to the spray, this perfume is sure to thrill any delicate nose. Georgio Armani Sensi: this season Armani has gone to the orient with this new scent. Sensi is light, but it is also very feminine. The best part about this scent is that it will linger on your skin and clothes for quite awhile – leaving him always wanting more. Philosophy Amazing Grace: it’s Philosophy – need I say more? Amazing Grace has been around for awhile, but the latest version of this scent is slightly stronger. Philosophy products are just so irresistible, it will be hard not to gobble this one up. Though those home made apple pies smell great coming out of the oven, nothing will top your smell this holiday season. Remember to choose a scent that really speaks to you, and spray lightly – most of these scents only require a few squirts. Nothing speaks to one’s senses quite like a specific smell, so keep them all guess with your new signature scent this season.
